E.J. Singler's 26 points led the Ducks past UCLA 75-68 Staurday afternoon at Matthew Knight Arena

Ducks Bounce Bruins 75-68

Oregon's 75-68 win over the UCLA Bruins at Matthew Knight Arena on Saturday offered something more than two completely different basketball games, twenty minutes each. But let's start there.

E.J. Singler's career best 26 points led the Ducks to their fourth straight win and into a tie for first place in the Pac-12 conference.

There was no reason to think that would be the case for the first twenty minutes. The Ducks couldn't buy a bucket (21%) and UCLA shredded the Oregon defense building a 37-24 halftime lead.

Shooting better than 51% from the floor, the Bruins hit for ten more baskets and grabbed ten more rebounds than the Ducks and that 13-point deficit looked to be more than the Ducks were up for.

Ducks Slip Past USC 65-62
Rick Morgan

Garrett Sim's 20 points led the Oregon Ducks past a stubborn and stingy USC squad 65-62 Thursday night at Matthew Knight Arena.

Backcourt mate Devoe Joseph added 16 points and Olu Asholu 11 more in what was probably more difficult a game for the Ducks than it should have been.

"We found a way to win; that's always important," said Ducks coach Dana Altman. "It's a big plus, but we know we have to play better to get wins down the road."

The Trojans had dropped their previous five games and there were moments in the first 20 minutes when Oregon appeared ready to take the game in hand.

Sun Devils Escape 53-49
Rick Morgan

The Arizona State Sun Devils stole a 53-49 victory from Oregon Saturday afternoon at Matthew Knight Arena.

For the first twenty minutes the Ducks had every opportunity to run away from the Sun Devils but instead found nearly every way possible to make sure they didn't, limping to a 17-16 halftime margin that easily could have been 37-16.

In the second half the Sun Devils found enough offense to stave off several sincere but flawed attempts by the Ducks to push ahead.

Only Jasmin Holliday (12 pts) scored in double figures as the Ducks shot 17-56  from the floor while being out rebounded 52-38 - including a 20-12 ASU advantage on the offensive glass.

Despite those daunting figures Oregon never fell further than five points behind the Sun Devils and trailed by only one point as late as the 0:21 mark of the second half.

Jasmin Holliday drives for two of her 16 points against the Arizona Wildcats

Ducks Tame Wildcats 87-73
Rick Morgan

Oregon made six of their first seven three point attempts to pounce early on the Arizona Wildcats on their way to a 87-73 win Thursday night at Matthew Knight Arena.

Five Ducks posted double figures in the scoring column, led by Lexi Petersen's 17 points. Jasmin Holliday and Ariel Thomas each hit for 16, Jordan Loera was good for a dozen and Danielle Love for 11 as the Ducks led wire to wire in earning their second conference win.

"It was good to get a win," said head coach Paul Westhead. "Especially coming back home. The difference in the second half was the poise of Lexi Petersen who took over the game for us. She did a great job for us."

Petersen knocked down four of eight from the floor and nine of ten from the line filling in for point guard Nia Jackson. Jackson's chronic knee condition limited the senior point to 12 minutes of playing time, necessitating the shift from the three spot to the point for Petersen.
